Dahye Opal Jung is a Korean artist based in Chicago. Her work begins from personal experience
combining observed reality with imagination to reconstruct the body and landscape.
She fragments and exaggerates the body, and through the destruction of materials,
expresses physical and psychological pain, repression, and vulnerability.

Working across oil paint, acrylic, gemstones, textiles, performance, and sculpture,
she transforms personal experience into diverse forms of expression questioning
whether what the viewer encounters appears beautiful, unpleasant, or something
that should remain hidden from modern society.
